Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Edinson Cavani, Harry Maguire and Mason Greenwood have not travelled with the Manchester United squad for their Champions League opener against Paris Saint-Germain.
The MEN revealed Cavani, Maguire, Greenwood, Eric Bailly and Jesse Lingard were not among the travelling squad that flew from Manchester Airport on Monday afternoon.
Cavani, 33, has not played since March 11 and the United deadline day signing only began training with his new teammates on Sunday after quarantining for two weeks.
Maguire was a doubt ahead of the trip to Newcastle on Saturday night but started and equalised in United's 4-1 victory. Solskjaer was unsure whether the United captain would recover from an unspecified injury in time for the Saturday tea-time kick-off against Chelsea.
"We've lost a couple," Solskjaer said. "So that's Bailly didn't travel or Lingard didn't travel. We're a little bit depleted but have more than enough players.
"We hope the players won't be away for too long. Edinson needs a few more days training before the weekend. Hopefully Harry, Eric and Mason as well but not sure about that. We hope Harry will be fit for the weekend, we're not sure but we hope so."
Greenwood sat out the Newcastle game before training with the squad at Carrington on Monday morning but the 19-year-old failed to make the travelling party amid rumours he and Brandon Williams had been disciplined by Solskjaer.
Williams, 20, flew to France with the United squad and is expected to be on the bench at the Parc des Princes, where Solskjaer derided the scurrilous gossip about Williams and Greenwood.
"Yeah, so, if that's the case why is Brandon here?" Solskjaer asked. "Where are your sources? That's what I'm saying."
When pressed on the extent of Greenwood's injury, Solskjaer replied: "I can't declare medical stuff, can I? We hope it's just a niggle and we don't want to take any chances with him and hopefully at the weekend it'll be fine again."
