Manchester United give Marcus Rashford injury update ahead of international break

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Marcus Rashford is likely to link up with the England squad despite missing Manchester United's FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester City.

Rashford was replaced at half-time in United's Europa League win over AC Milan on Thursday after experiencing discomfort in his foot. The forward initially picked up the problem during the Manchester derby win over City earlier in March.

The 23-year-old has been included in Gareth Southgate's England squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania, Poland and San Marino in what will be a busy international break.

Despite missing the FA Cup tie against the Foxes, Solskjaer said Rashford could play some part for England over the next fortnight.

"No, he wasn't close [to playing against Leicester]," Solskjaer said. "We took him off and he thought he'd be ready but, yesterday, he had no chance of walking on his foot.

"The scans show there’s an injury there... the doctor will speak to the English FA but I think he’ll travel and report. Maybe he’ll be fit for them."
