Manchester United give major injury update on Paul Pogba

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he hopes to have Edinson Cavani, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek back for the Premier League clash against Chelsea this weekend.

However, United are still set to be without Paul Pogba 'for a few weeks' as he continues his rehabilitation from a recent thigh injury.

The French midfielder last featured for United in their 3-3 draw with Everton at the start of the month and has returned to training on the grass as part of solo sessions.

United had originally suggested Pogba would be back in early March but it seems like his lay-off could be longer than originally anticipated.

Solskjaer's side could, however, be boosted by the triple return of Cavani, McTominay and Van de Beek for their trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday after the trio missed the last three matches through injury.

It wasn't all good news though as the United manager confirmed Daniel James is a doubt following the injury he sustained in the goalless draw with Real Sociedad on Thursday night.

"(Dan James) We will have to check on him tonight," Solskjaer told BT Sport. "Scott, Donny, Edinson we hope they can be available for the weekend. Paul is still out for a few weeks."

United secured qualification to the last 16 of the Europa League with a 4-0 aggregate win over Sociedad. They will discover their next opponents when the draw takes place at midday on Friday.
