Manchester United give Luke Shaw and Christian Eriksen injury updates for Everton

Luke Shaw is out of Manchester United's Premier League home match against Everton on Saturday but Christian Eriksen will return to the squad.

Shaw came off in the 37th minute of the 1-0 win against Brentford on Wednesday night but walked down the tunnel unaided. Tyrell Malacia replaced the United left-back and is set to start in the Premier League for the first time since the win at Leeds on February 12.

Christian Eriksen resumed squad training this week and is in contention to return to the matchday squad for the first time since he sustained an ankle injury in a foul by Reading striker Andy Carroll in the FA Cup fourth round on January 28.

"Luke Shaw is not available for tomorrow and we have to see how we progress in the coming week," Ten Hag said. "The good news is Christian Eriksen is back in training and he will be back in the squad tomorrow.

"I think it was not for nothing, I was so angry about that bad tackle (by Carroll) and he (Eriksen) was away. We first feared we lost him for the whole season but he worked really well, the medical department did very well.

"He's returning to the squad and is available for the final stages of the season, so we are very pleased with that. It was a really bad tackle and a really bad injury, it's settled and now we are very happy with that."

Everton are unbeaten in their last four and came from behind to salvage draws against Chelsea and Tottenham. Sean Dyche oversaw victory against Arsenal in his first match in charge and Ten Hag is impressed by their improved fitness levels.

"He's doing a great job," Ten Hag noted. "The team is very fit, the physical output is outstanding, so we have to match that."
