Man Utd give injury update on five players vs West Ham

Manchester United are set to be without Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic again for the Premier League visit of West Ham on Saturday.

Herrera (thigh) and Matic (illness) missed the midweek Champions League defeat by Barcelona and Herrera did not travel for the league loss at Wolves last week. Alexis Sanchez, who has been sidelined with a knee injury for over a month, could also be held back to save him for the second leg against Barca on Tuesday.

United full-backs Ashley Young and Luke Shaw are suspended for the West Ham game and Solskjaer could start Marcos Rojo for the first time, while Matteo Darmian is also available after spending nearly three months out injured. Club captain Antonio Valencia is still out.

"We've got a couple of other full-backs out for a while," Solskjaer said. "Antonio... Matteo Darmian will be available, Rojo's available and we might just have to look at other options as well if something happens to those.

"Herrera's still out, won't be available, I doubt Nemanja is available because of his illness. Maybe, because he's a warrior and he really wants to join in and help his teammates. Let's see after today because he trained individually yesterday.

"Alexis is training with us, he's trained twice. He'll train today. I'm not sure if he's gonna be available, he's injury-free, but not sure 100 per cent ready for tomorrow. Maybe more likely for the Barcelona game. Let's see."

Solskjaer will have to make a minimum of two changes to the XI that lost to Barcelona due to Shaw's and Young's bans but indicated he could freshen the squad up elsewhere. Jesse Lingard was a surprise omission from the team that faced Barcelona and Anthony Martial could also be recalled.

"I've still got options, of course, to rest one or two," Solskjaer said. "Because there are games coming up and they'll all play a part. We had players on the bench on Wednesday night like Jesse and Anthony who normally start games. There will be a couple of changes. Let's see what we'll decide on."
