Manchester United give Harry Maguire injury update

Harry Maguire has missed Manchester United's Carabao Cup tie with Brighton with a knock.

Maguire started in United's last 19 matches prior to their Wednesday night trip to Brighton but has sat out his first game since the FA Cup fifth round win at Derby County on March 5.

Eric Bailly has been recalled at centre half, where Victor Lindelof is the only survivor from Saturday's remarkable Premier League win at the Amex Stadium.

United host Tottenham Hotspur in the league on Sunday and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer indicated Maguire should be fit to return.

"Yeah, he's got a little knock but should be okay," Solskjaer told MUTV. "We need to give minutes to players, we need to [give them] a chance to stake a claim for the league game on Sunday and this is a strong team as well.

"We know Brighton are going to be a difficult opponent, probably going to change up the top team by a couple, but I'm looking forward to this one."

United beat Brighton at the weekend with a penalty kick that was awarded after the game had initially ended and tonight's tie could be decided by a shootout if the scores are level after 90 minutes.

"You'll have to play until the final whistle when you're at this club and that was a first for me," Solskjaer said of the finale on Saturday. "That's football and passion and it might be a penalty shootout after the final whistle.

"We want to finish it up before then. We prepared well for this trip and we should be ready."
