Manchester United give Eric Bailly and Marcus Rashford injury updates

Manchester United fear Eric Bailly has suffered a major knee injury after he was forced off on his comeback against Chelsea.

Bailly was recalled for his first appearance since March 6 in the Premier League draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford but required lengthy treatment following a 68th-minute challenge and was replaced by Marcos Rojo. Bailly, 24, has been beset by injuries during his United career and is unlikely to figure in the remaining fixtures against Huddersfield and Cardiff, having started just 14 club games all season.

Marcus Rashford also had to come off with a shoulder injury in the 65th minute. Rashford has scored three in his last 15 but Solskjaer did not say the 21-year-old was out for the remainder of the season.

"Rashy, we strapped him up before the game," Solskjaer explained. "You could clearly see his shoulder got worse and worse and he couldn't run freely any more.

"Eric: I think it's a bad knee injury. Hopefully it's not the worst case, but I'm sure we won't see him more this season unfortunately. And that just adds to the others we got against City. Anyway, we'll be ready against Huddersfield."

United are three points off fourth in the table with two to play and appear destined for the Europa League next term. United travel to relegated Huddersfield on Sunday and on the final day of the campaign host Cardiff, whose return to the Championship could have also been sealed by then.

"If you look at the league table it's going to be difficult," Solskjaer said. "We've got to make sure we turn up, win the next two games and you never know because points are being dropped left, right and centre in this race. There are difficult games for all of us and we can't do more than focus on our own performances.

"I think we've been inconsistent in our performances and sometimes when we've played really well, when everything's been going easily, but it's not easy.

"You can see in this league, we played against Chelsea, that's a fantastic team, we kept them quite quiet, I felt, during the whole game, and we feel we should have won this game. But feelings don't decide and [they] probably deserved the draw."
