Manchester United get Scott McTominay and Alex Telles injury boost

Manchester United have been handed a double fitness boost after Alex Telles and Scott McTominay both returned to full training.

The pair returned to Carrington on Thursday as they stepped up their recovery from recent injury issues, handing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a timely boost during a busy schedule.

Telles hasn't played since the first pre-season friendly of the summer against Derby, having picked up an ankle injury in the training camp at Pennyhill Park in Surrey, which followed that game.

McTominay started against Leeds on the opening day of the Premier League season and came off the bench at Southampton a week later, but he then went under the knife to have surgery on a minor groin issue.

Neither are likely to make the matchday squad for United's Premier League game at West Ham on Sunday as they work their way back up to full fitness.

“Scott and Alex have joined in training this morning fully. They look good,” Solskjaer told the United website .

“Of course we need to have them go through a few sessions before we can consider if they’re going to be available.”

Edinson Cavani remains on the sidelines after picked up a knock in a practice match at Carrington during the international break. Solskjaer is hoping the 34-year-old will be back in training on Monday.

If United continue to progress in the Carabao Cup - they face West Ham again, at Old Trafford in the third round on Wednesday - then they could have midweek fixtures every week between now and the turn of the year.
