Manchester United's first Premier League game of the season away at Burnley will be postponed to ensure they have a 30-day gap between seasons.
United's 2019-20 campaign ended with Europa League semi-final defeat to Sevilla and there was only a 27-day gap between that fixture and the Premier League's start date on September 12, so United will begin their campaign at home to Crystal Palace on the weekend of September 19.
However, the Premier League have granted United permission to start their campaign later than most other sides due to their participation in the latter stages of the Europa League in August. No date has been set for United's trip to Burnley.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last week said he wants a 30-day gap between the Europa League final - to be played tomorrow night - and United's first fixture of 2020-21, which could be on Sunday September 20.
"Absolutely no concerns about next season at the moment," Solskjaer said. "We have a good possibility to finish the season. Of course, this is the only way we could have finished the season and, for the supporters as well, to have a game on telly every day has been very important. You look forward to the Champions League games at night and the Europa League games, I think that has been helpful.
"We have to use it as preparation for this tournament but also it's almost a pre-season for next season. It is not very long until we have to get going again.
"But it is what it is, we have to be clever when we rest people, how we train, when we play, it's just the time we're in. We can't complain because this is the world we're in now.
"There's no point me worrying about it, the authorities will give us as much rest as they can. Hopefully, we have 30 days at least before we start, that means we can give them a two-week holiday. They cannot probably travel wherever they want and it gives us two weeks to prepare for the first game.
"It is what it is and I can't see a reason why I should be complaining, just gotta make the most of it and look after them when I can, and hopefully some national team coaches will do the same as well!"
