Manchester United get Paul Pogba injury boost and give team news vs Derby County

Paul Pogba is set to return to full training at Manchester United next week but Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could miss the FA Cup fifth round tie at Derby County.

Pogba, 26, has not started a game since September 30 due to a troublesome ankle injury and has only made two substitute appearances since. The France international underwent ankle surgery in early January and has started running again.

United travel to LASK Linz in their Europa League round-of-32 first leg next week and Pogba could be available for the trip, otherwise his comeback could come away at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on March 15.

Wales international James missed the 1-1 draw with Everton on Sunday and the 22-year-old is unlikely to make the squad at Derby. Wan-Bissaka has a back problem and is due to be assessed.

"Daniel James will probably miss out on this one as well," Solskjaer said. "Marcus and Paul are still out and I think Aaron might be struggling. He's got a test today but he struggled in our last game against Everton with his back, so he might be out.

"Paul's still working with the physios outside and he won't be training with the first-team until next week and then let's see how long that will take, he needs time to get his football fitness back."

Sergio Romero started the previous FA Cup ties against Wolves and Tranmere Rovers and could resume his cup commitments at Pride Park. The Argentinian has started in six of United's eight Europa League matches this season and was on course to start the FA Cup final in 2018, until he encountered injury issues towards the end of the season.

David de Gea's weekend error at Goodison Park has intensified the pressure on his place and Romero has kept nine clean sheets in 12 this season.

"It's not a given, of course, but Sergio has done well in the games he's played, definitely," Solskjaer added. "But I have no qualms about playing David in every game, to be fair.

"What he's done and his performances have been great, the save just after [the mistake], I was 100% he was offside, Calvert-Lewin, but he wasn't, so that was a point-saving save for us just afterwards, he's making amends."
