Manchester United get mixed injury news on Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay vs Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United are hopeful Scott McTominay will be fit for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday but are set to be without Paul Pogba again.

McTominay has sat out the last three games against Sheffield United, Astana and Aston Villa with an ankle injury but the MEN understands he is expected to be fit enough to face Tottenham.

Pogba has been sidelined since September 30 with a troublesome ankle injury and is likelier to be back for the Manchester derby at City on Saturday.

The 26-year-old first sustained an ankle knock in the draw with Southampton on August 31 and was sidelined for the next three games before he started against Rochdale in the League Cup third round on September 25. Pogba lined up against Arsenal five days later and has not played since.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was coy when asked about the possible returns of McTominay and Pogba this week.

“Still got two days," Solskjaer said after the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa. "We need to look at everyone here as well. Let's see, hopefully we can see one of them on the pitch but they're working hard behind the scenes."

Pogba returned from rehabilitation in Miami at the end of last week. He also travelled to Dubai in October for some warm weather training while he continued his rehabilitation.

McTominay was in attendance for the Villa draw in the Old Trafford directors’ box.
