Manchester United get Amad injury boost with training update

Amad has been pictured wearing Manchester United training gear as he gets closer to a return from injury.

The Ivorian winger was set to leave United on loan in the summer transfer window but saw a proposed move to Dutch side Feyenoord fall through after he suffered with a thigh muscle injury in training.

United expected Amad to be out of action for roughly six weeks and there is a belief he could be in contention to start matches again by mid-October.

Taking to social media on Monday the teenage winger uploaded a picture of himself back in United training kit, hinting that his return is near.

The 19-year-old signed from Atalanta for a fee rising to £37million and the Ivory Coast international could face his former club in the Champions League group stage now he is remaining with United until January, at least.

Amad has only started twice for United since he joined the club in January and missed the entirety of pre-season as he elected to represent the Ivory Coast at the Olympics in Tokyo.

The right-sided forward scored his only United goal in the Europa League round-of-16 tie with AC Milan in March and made his international debut later that month.

Speaking earlier in the month Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issued an update on Amad which reiterated the belief he will be back next month.

"Still injured, still out for about a month,” the boss said to the club website.

“So maybe after the next international break he will be available for us which is great for us. It was bad timing for him to get that injury but he's working really hard and the kid is going to be a good one.”
