Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood nominated for Premier League award

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has been nominated for the first Premier League player of the month award of the new season.

Greenwood has been named on the six-man shortlist for the August award after a fine month in which he scored across all three appearances he made.

The 19-year-old netted for United in their opening day win over Leeds before grabbing a vital equaliser in an away draw with Southampton and scoring the only goal of the game in last weekend's win at Wolves.

That return means Greenwood has become only the second teenager in Premier League history to have scored in each of his side's opening three games of a new top-flight season, with Liverpool icon Robbie Fowler the only other to have done it.

His winner at Wolves also means he's now one of only four players in Premier League history to score 20 or more goals as a teenager, following in the footsteps of Fowler, Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney.

Greenwood faces stiff competition for the award with Marcos Alonso, Michail Antonio, Said Benrahma, Eric Dier and Demari Gray also nominated.

You can vote for your player of the month via the EA Sports website.
