Manchester United and England star Alessia Russo has been reported to be on the move to Arsenal for a 'world record' fee - just months before her contract is up and she becomes a free agent.
Russo, who has been at United since 2020, has made nine appearances so far this season and scored in five of those, making 35 appearances in total since she joined, for the club she has supported since she was a child.
There have been months of speculation surrounding the striker's contract and with the WSL transfer window closing at 5pm on Tuesday, Arsenal are set to make their move according to The Athletic.
Russo's talent on the international stage with the England squad during the Euros last year has helped gain traction for interest across the world.
The reported world record fee for Russo's deal to the Gunners is set to beat the current record held when Manchester City's Keira Walsh moved to Barcelona for £400,000.
Russo's United career has been nothing but successful after being nominated for WSL Player of the Month in October 2020 with three goals and one assist in three appearances - just a month after she signed for the club.
In her second season from 2021-22, she was named the inaugural winner of the team's Players' Player of the Year award.
Manchester United currently sit top of the WSL table, but both Chelsea and Arsenal are hot on their heels with games in hand.
