Manchester United 'finally going to make official bid' for Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United are 'finally going to make an official bid' for Bruno Fernandes, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add a new midfielder to his United squad this summer to fill the void left by the departed Ander Herrera and the Sporting captain, alongside Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff, is at the top of the short-list.

It's little wonder that Fernandes is being linked with a move away from the club this summer after the year he has had, scoring 32 goals and leading his club Portuguese cup victory for the first time since 2015, just a year after they lost to massive underdogs Aves.

Fernandes also helped Portugal become inaugural Nations League champions, as he shone in the semi-final and final in his home country.

United have been touted to make a move for months and now according to O Jogo, cited by The Sun, 'they are finally going to make an official bid of £49millon for the 24-year-old.'

However, it's claimed that Sporting 'will reject that offer' as they want 'closer to £70million' for their prized asset.

It's reported that the Lisbon club 'hope to start a bidding war with the likes of Liverpool and also Paris-Saint Germain' to hike the price up as much as possible.

Fernandes is contracted until 2023 and Sporting are under no pressure to sell.

Meanwhile, United are reportedly among a number of clubs interested in signing 2018 Ballon D’Or winner Luka Modric from Real Madrid.

Spanish news outlet  Diariogol  report that PSG, Inter, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and United have all shown interest in signing Modric - despite the Croatian World Cup star being now aged 33-year-old and enduring a poor season last term.

Madrid are apparently keen to sell Modric, amid their interest in United’s Paul Pogba. It is claimed PSG will offer Real Julian Draxler as part of a player-plus-cash exchange deal for Modric.
