Manchester United fans worried after major injury blow ahead of Liverpool clash

Manchester United fans were left hoping for the best after Raphael Varane limped off injured for France on Sunday night, ahead of their clash with Liverpool later this month.

France went on to win the UEFA Nations League against Spain 2-1 at the San Siro, but though he collected his medal, the centre-half was forced off in the first-half.

The former Real Madrid centre-back has impressed since arriving at the club but went down holding his leg and was substituted for Dayot Upamecano in the 43rd minute.

With Harry Maguire also currently injured and the extent of Varane’s injury as yet unknown, Manchester United supporters began to worry what it could mean for the next few weeks, which includes Jurgen Klopp’s side travelling to Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team headed into the international break in poor form, winning only one of their last four games via a last-minute Cristiano Ronaldo goal against Villarreal.

Having earned one point in their last two league games against Aston Villa and Everton, Liverpool’s rivals have a tough few weeks ahead.

They travel to Leicester this weekend and then host Atalanta in the Champions League, before the Reds arrive on October 24, while also playing Manchester City at the start of November.

It has been speculated that the nature of Varane’s injury could see him ruled out for up to three weeks, although this is yet to be confirmed.

Club captain Harry Maguire went off injured in United’s defeat to Aston Villa in September and missed his side’s draw with Everton, while having also sat out of international duty.

If Varane and Maguire are ruled out for Liverpool’s meeting with United, it would mean the Reds frontline could come up against Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly at centre-back.
