Manchester United fans will love Ryan Giggs' Mason Greenwood prediction

Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has predicted that Mason Greenwood will make huge strides towards becoming a first-team regular this season.

Greenwood featured three times for the Red Devils last season as the club finished sixth in the Premier League .

The 17-year-old has significant potential having scored 15 times in 13 matches for the under-18s last season and netted three goals in six games for the club's Premier League Two side. He scored twice in pre-season for the first team and could feature against Chelsea in the Premier League opener on Sunday.

United are expected to give Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial even more attacking responsibility, with the departure of Romelu Lukaku paving the way for the duo to dominate the minutes on the field.

But it also offers a chance for Greenwood to take a leap forward, with Giggs having every confidence that the teenage sensation will do just that.

"I like Greenwood but playing centre forward for United every week is a different thing," Giggs said, according to the Daily Star .

"Not many youngsters have come through the ranks to play centre forward for the club. Marcus Rashford has done it but they usually buy someone in.

"I think we will see a lot of Mason this season because he is such a talent. Every time I see him I like him but he is still very young and learning the game.”
