Manchester United fans voice discontent ahead of player of the year awards

The majority of Manchester United's supporters believe Victor Lindelof deserves to win the club's Player of the Year award.

The awards ceremony will take place at Old Trafford on Thursday night, with four prizes up for grabs.

The Sir Matt Busby trophy, awarded to the fans' player of the season, is the main prize on offer and supporters can cast their vote in the official United app.

MEN Sport ran a poll on Wednesday asking supporters which player deserves to win, with Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba provided as options for fans to vote for.

Of the 9,369 users that responded to the poll, 61 per cent of them plumped for Lindelof, with 20 per cent voting for Shaw, 11 per cent choosing Pogba and eight per cent choosing the option 'Other'.

There were plenty of calls from fans for the awards night to be cancelled, though, given the struggles United have endured throughout this torrid season.

Cancel it.

A strong message.

Have respect.

Brutal.

Nothing to celebrate.

Only one winner.

Manchester United still have something to play for vs Cardiff City
