Manchester United fans' verdict on most impressive new signing

Manchester United fans have named Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the club's most impressive summer signing, as the season heads into a hiatus for international football.

The £50million signing from Crystal Palace has settled swiftly into life at Old Trafford, impressing fans with his superb defensive nous and ability to win the ball back.

Despite United's concerning start to the season, which has seen them draw against Wolves and Southampton and lose at home to Wan-Bissaka's former club Palace, fans are convinced the 21-year-old is a good addition.

In response to a poll by MEN Sport asking: "Which Manchester United new signing has impressed you the most so far?" — with winger Daniel James and centre-back Harry Maguire the other options — Wan-Bissaka was the choice of the majority.

Of more than 4,000 respondents, 54 per cent voted for the right-back, 43 per cent voted for James (who has scored three goals in four United appearances this season), while Maguire only polled three per cent.

It shows that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's policy of buying promising young homegrown players is proving popular with supporters, despite the discontent with United's early season performances.

After the 1-1 draw with Southampton on Saturday, Solskjaer said: "We have a clear plan and we believe in the players and believe in the way we do things.

"You can say it's long-term but we deserved to win the last three games as well.

"Last week's game, Wolverhampton game, we need to learn that, I know we're a young team but that's not an excuse, there's plenty of quality.

"But we'll get there, we're working on it, and so delighted for Dan (James) with his strike again, he's had a fantastic impact since he's come and he can give us quality in both ways of football."
