Manchester United fans unhappy as Man City score another controversial goal

Manchester United fans are not happy about Man City’s second goal against West Brom.

Pep Guardiola’s side took the lead at The Hawthorns thanks to a strike from Ilkay Gundogan, before Joao Cancelo added a second before the half-hour mark.

Gundogan later added a third for City, before Riyad Mahrez scored a fourth in first-half stoppage time in a frantic first half, but it was the second goal which attracted the most controversy.

As Bernardo Silva was played in, the offside flag was raised, but the referee’s whistle did not go and City played on.

The West Brom players appeared to stop and wait for the whistle, while Cancelo went ahead and placed the ball in the top corner of the net.

United fans were not happy with the goal, and took to social media to express their thoughts and emotions.

NS: “Let’s just say we’re all REALLY shocked that yet another dodgy offside call has gone city’s way. Honest.”

Steve Vernon: “What is it with city and offside decisions.”

Dom: “City benefit from an offside not being called against Villa and now they’ve benefited from an offside incorrectly being called. I give up.”

Sam: “Another Manchester City game, another offside confusion. Referee raises the flag. West Brom player stops and Cancelo shoots for fun. Later on after VAR check goal is allowed. Wow.”
