Manchester United fans unconvinced by Erik ten Hag's rule change on day two of pre-season

Manchester United supporters didn't allow themselves to get carried away on Tuesday after Erik ten Hag reintroduced a schedule not seen since Sir Alex Ferguson's time in charge.

Ten Hag met a number of his squad for the first time on Monday ahead of their pre-season tour to Thailand and Australia next month. The Manchester Evening News understands that players came in at 9.30am and 11.30am on day one, but that had all changed by Tuesday.

All squad members travelled in for 9am, an hour after Ten Hag was spotted arriving at Carrington himself. A source told the MEN: "All in by 9am, an hour earlier than normal. Fergie Time."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had allowed players to arrive by 10am during his tenure. However the dressing room hosted a sour atmosphere by the time of his November sacking.

Some United fans were happy to see their team’s new boss stamp his authority from the off. Many others on Twitter said that, while it was good to hear of Ten Hag’s policy alteration, they are not getting ahead of themselves.

@urbanangler25: I can't be phased by this until I see transfers and subsequently results on the pitch. We have a long way to go. Short term hype, long term pain.

@aaaniket2: Been two days. Give it some time and you'll see them hiding behind their agents.

@pheez_fx: Now they need some discipline on the pitch not just on the training ground I hope they respect and follow ETH playing philosophy and show some mentality as a top players.

@rahulsesh: Let the results speak.

@officialfoyz: How long before we hear the infamous headlines again about United players not being happy going into training at 9am as it means they don’t get a lie in.
