Manchester United fans think Vincent Kompany news is a transfer blow to them

Manchester United fans think the fact that Vincent Kompany is leaving Man City could be bad news for them.

The City legend has played his last match for the club and will be leaving the Etihad Stadium following his triumph in the FA Cup on Saturday evening.

Kompany's departure means City will certainly be in the transfer market for a new central defender, and Matthijs de Ligt is the name on everybody's lips.

The 19-year-old captained Ajax to a remarkable domestic double this season and is in high demand going into the summer transfer market.

Despite an awful season United had been linked with a shock move for the Dutch international, but now supporters believe a move to City will be on the cards.

Bad news

With Kompany leaving City I guess they'll be looking for a commanding centre back with leadership qualities that can fit in to Pep's philosophy.

Not happy

Kompany leaving City. I wonder how many days it takes them to replace him. I say days not years, not even weeks. They will have a plan & he will be replaced. Probably sign De Ligt and have their CB pairing for the next 10 years.
