Manchester United fans think they've spotted Solskjaer confirming Jadon Sancho transfer

Some Manchester United fans on Twitter were allowing themselves to get excited ahead of Monday's game against Copenhagen after a clip emerged which they thought showed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saying a deal for Jadon Sancho has been agreed.

Sancho is United's top target this summer as Solskjaer looks to turn his team into Premier League title contenders, but developments on Monday suggested a deal is far from imminent.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said during a press conference that he expects Sancho to remain at Dortmund for at least another season. "The decision is final," he said, before revealing that the player's contract was extended until 2023 last year. It was previously thought that Sancho was contracted to Dortmund until 2022.

The MEN understands United are frustrated by the slow pace of negotiations with Dortmund through the agent Marco Lichtsteiner.

United sources have described it as 'unusual' of Dortmund to have hired an intermediary to act on their behalf and claim Sancho's wage demands and agents fees continue to be an 'obstacle'. United are determined not to repeat mistakes of the past in overpaying the agent.

Despite the continued posturing between the two clubs, one positive-thinking United fan believe they spotted Solskjaer discussing a deal for Sancho during a conversation with Nemanja Matic on Sunday night.

A Twitter user, whose lip-reading qualifications are unknown, tweeted to claim Solskjaer said: "They wanted more cash. Yep they did. He’s joining On Tuesday."

Some fans allowed themselves to get carried away with the tweet, but one rather aptly wrote: "It looks different every time someone says something."
