Manchester United supporters have told Mike Phelan to prioritise signing a new leader in the summer transfer window.
United are looking to reshape their squad over the coming months as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his staff look to build a team which can challenge for Champions League qualification.
The club are yet to sign any new players yet but fans have already identified one player they would like to see arrive at Old Trafford in the coming weeks.
Taking to social media on Thursday morning assistant manager Mike Phelan tweeted a story about leadership from former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley.
The story gave six bullet points of what it takes to be a captain, and supporters couldn't help but feel that Matthijs de Ligt is the type of player which the article was describing.
