Manchester United fans taunt Simon Mignolet with Steven Gerrard chant

Manchester United fans couldn't resist mocking two former Liverpool players in their Europa League clash with Club Brugge on Thursday.

Brugge have former Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet among their ranks, and the Belgian stopper had already conceded three goals in the first half at Old Trafford.

So when Mignolet slipped when taking a goal kick, it earned a huge cheer from the United support, who were in fine voice all night.

But fans weren't content with just an ironic cheer, as they instead broke into their repertoire of songs mocking Liverpool and their former captain Steven Gerrard.

First, though, there was time for fans to ask Mignolet: "Are you Gerrard in disguise?" in relation to Gerrard's famous slip in the 2014 Premier League title race that ultimately cost Liverpool the league.

In the first leg, fans took delight in seeing Anthony Martial score a one-on-one shaped right-footed finish against Mignolet, similar to his debut goal for United against Liverpool in 2015.

With United all but securing their place in the next round of the Europa League, one possible opponent is Gerrard's Rangers side, who confirmed their place in the last-16 with a win at Braga last night.
