Manchester United fans taunt Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool's loss to Burnley

Manchester United fans were in jubilant mood after Liverpool's defeat to Burnley.

United are now six points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table, with Anfield legend Jamie Carragher warning his former side may have to focus on qualifying for the Champions League instead of defending their Premier League title.

Whilst there is still a long way to go this season, Reds fans were taking plenty of satisfaction from being top of the league and seeing their rivals struggle.

United now face Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday and there was some debate over the best way to approach the game.

Liverpool have now scored just once in their last five Premier League matches - a far cry from December's 7-0 victory over Crystal Palace, at which point it looked like Jurgen Klopp's side had hit top form.

Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, Klopp admitted he was at a loss to explain his side's poor performance in front of goal.

He said: "I never thought about us like the free-scoring side or unit, I always knew we had to get a lot of things right to get into these situations.

"Then you have moments where a player takes one touch and then it’s in the top corner, these kinds of things, but that doesn’t happen all the time.

"It’s not the first time this has happened in football and it won’t be the last time. The good thing is that we can change it, we just have to work on it, and for tonight, we can’t work on that anymore, we just have to prepare for the next one."
