Manchester United fans split on Solskjaer's January transfer priority

Manchester United fans are split on which position the club needs to strengthen in most when the January transfer window opens.

United's squad was down to the bare bones for the trip to Newcastle on Sunday, with eight players missing out at St James' Park through injury.

Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Jesse Lingard and Eric Bailly were all either injured or ill for the game game on Tyneside.

To add insult to injury, Diogo Dalot limped off in the second half before Mason Greenwood pulled out of the England Under-21 squad on Monday.

United have quality in attack but they do not have numbers, while United have numbers in midfield but they do not have enough quality.

And that appears to be what has divided United fans in MEN Sport's latest Twitter poll, which posed the question: 'In which position do United need to strengthen most in January?'

Unsurprisingly, just one per cent voted for the defence, with 51 per cent plumping for the midfield and 48 per cent voting for the attack.

United have scored just 11 goals this season, with Daniel James and Marcus Rashford netting three, and Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood scoring two.

Scott McTominay is the only midfielder to have notched a goal for United all season after he opened the scoring in last week's 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
