Manchester United fans react to David De Gea's cryptic message featuring Sergio Ramos

Manchester United fans had a number of messages for David De Gea's future after the goalkeeper's cryptic tweet.

Following a disappointing end to the Premier League season and amid uncertainty over his United future, De Gea linked up with Spain for their Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Sweden in the next week.

De Gea tweeted a picture of him embracing Spanish teammate and Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos with the message: "Did you miss me?"

The caption prompted many United fans to respond by telling the 28-year-old to sign a new United deal. He has been linked with a possible departure this summer, with his current contract expiring in June 2020 after United triggered a one year extension to his initial deal.

MEN Sport understands United want to keep De Gea and are in the process of persuading him to sign an extension at the club.

However, several United fans appeared worried that the tweet meant he was joining Ramos at Madrid, or at least leaving United:

Others just simply told De Gea to 'sign the contract', with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to keep the keeper at Old Trafford, despite a difficult season for both De Gea and the team:
