Manchester United fans send transfer message to Ed Woodward after Dayot Upamecano admission

Manchester United fans have urged Ed Woodward to sign Dayot Upamecano after the RB Leipzig defender confirmed he had previously held talks about a transfer away.

The 21-year-old is highly sought after across Europe after impressing with his performances in the Champions League.

Upamecano has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United believed to be among the clubs keen to sign him.

The Frenchman has now revealed he did hold talks about a potential move away from the Bundesliga before eventually committing himself to a new three-year contract extension at Leipzig in July.

He told Telefoot: "For the moment I am with Leipzig but it is true that I was able to discuss with certain clubs.

"As I said, for now I am focused on Leipzig and I will continue to play for Leipzig. And then we’ll see.

"You never know what can happen in a football season."

After Upamecano's teasing comments, United fans have urged Woodward to snap up the centre-back.

With United stalling against their rivals in the transfer market, fans have grown impatient over a failed move for Jadon Sancho and here's what they had to say about a move for Upamecano.

Equally, following Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, supporters would like to see another defender arrive, although MEN Sport understands centre-back isn't a priority position at the moment.

United take on Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend hoping to make amends for defeat against the Eagles.
