Manchester United fans send Odion Ighalo message amid Anthony Martial struggles

Manchester United fans want to see Odion Ighalo start their next Premier League fixture.

United are now on a winter break, with their next game in 16 days' time at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea, their rivals for a top four place. United's 0-0 draw with Wolves at Old Trafford on Saturday evening left them six points behind Frank Lampard's side in the race to qualify for next season's Championship league.

The Wolves stalemate also saw striker stutter in front of goal, failing to register a single shot and subsequently coming in for some criticism from pundits.

With Marcus Rashford out injured, United made the move to sign former Watford forward Ighalo on loan from Shanghai Shenua until the end of the season.

And it seems supporters believe Ighalo must join fellow January arrival Bruno Fernandes in going straight into the first team.

They responded in droves to an MEN Sport poll that asked: "Who should play as Manchester United’s centre-forward in their next game?"

A 62.8 per cent share voted for Ighalo, 27.8 per cent chose Mason Greenwood and only 9.4 per cent wanted Martial to continue in the No.9 role. Martial may play on the left-wing, the position vacated by Rashford, who has a double stress fracture in his back.

Ighalo told reporters at Manchester Airport on Sunday afternoon that he would begin work at United on Monday after flying in from China.

On the move to United, he said: "It's a dream come true because since I was a kid, I've always dreamed about Man United. But this is reality now."
