Manchester United fans send emphatic message about Fred to Solskjaer ahead of West Ham fixture

Manchester United supporters have emphatically told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to start Fred against West Ham next weekend.

The Brazilian made his first appearance of the season on Saturday as he came off the bench in the second half of United's win over Leicester at Old Trafford.

And his tidy performance had the vast majority of United supporters calling for him to start at the London Stadium next Sunday.

In a poll conducted by MEN Sport on Sunday, 89 per cent of the 2,193 responders said Solskjaer should name Fred in his starting XI at the London Stadium, with just 11 per cent believing he should not start.

Fred took to Instagram to reveal his delight at being back on the pitch after Saturday's match, writing: "Win! Well done guys! I'm glad to be back. Thanks for all the support."

Fred disappointed during his debut season in England after joining United from Shakhtar Donetsk but, speaking earlier this summer, the £52million man vowed to prove himself this term.

“My first season was a bit difficult,” Fred said. “The first year is always a little bit difficult, a year of adaptation, and, moreover, we had a season that wasn’t too strong in terms of the Premier League.

“But now I’m more used to the league and I’ve been working hard. I’ve talked to the manager and backroom staff, and this season is going to be better than last season. I’m sure it is going to be very successful."
