Manchester United fans send defensive selection message to Solskjaer for West Ham fixture

Almost half of Manchester United's supporters want to see Diogo Dalot deputise for the suspended Luke Shaw when the Reds take on West Ham in the Premier League this weekend.

Shaw will miss United's next two domestic games having collected his 10th top-flight booking in the 2-1 defeat by Wolves on April 2.

The 23-year-old's ban rules him out of the trip to Everton on April 21 as well as Saturday's game against West Ham.

Shaw will also miss next week's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Barcelona having picked up his third European booking in the first leg on Wednesday night.

With regards to the upcoming league game against West Ham, 48 percent of supporters polled by the MEN would like to see Dalot start at left-back, while Marcos Rojo proved to be the second-most popular choice as he raked in 28 percent of the votes.

Just 21 percent of the 2,161 responders plumped for Matteo Darmian, with the remaining three percent voting for the 'Other' option.

Reserve-team players Ethan Laird and Lee O'Connor were both mentioned as alternatives in the replies to our Twitter poll.

O'Connor was added to United's Champions League squad earlier this week but he is listed by Uefa as being suspended for the second leg against Barca having been sent off in the Reds under-19s' Youth League defeat by Midtjylland in March.

With Ashley Young also suspended against West Ham after his red card against Wolves, Solskjaer is facing something of a defensive selection dilemma against Manuel Pellegrini's side.
