Manchester United fans send clear message on Fred to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Some Manchester United fans have expressed their disappointment in Fred's first half performance against Wolves.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has preserved with his trusted 4-2-3-1 formation for each of United's games this season and Fred has started three consecutive games in the double pivot - Paul Pogba was asked to drop back and play alongside the Brazilian on Sunday.

United, however, looked vulnerable in the opening exchanges against Wolves, appearing to be overrun in the centre of the pitch.

Fred was wasteful in possession in the first half and his poor positional awareness left United's back four exposed to Wolves' attacks.

The 28-year-old's display at Molineux has been a source of bemusement for United fans on social media.

Some fans were quick to point out the flaws of Fred playing in the double pivot while others suggested he should be substituted.

United would like to sign a defensive midfielder before deadline day, but that will be unlikely if they can't raise funds through sales.
