Manchester United fans say the same thing about Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo

Manchester United fans believe Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo could have blossomed into a top centre-back partnership for the club were it not for both players' fitness problems.

Bailly and Rojo face uncertain futures at Old Trafford after slipping down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Bailly has been plagued by injuries since joining from Villarreal and Solskjaer prefers Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Rojo is expected to leave the club in January or in the summer when his contract expires. He joined Estudiantes on loan in January of this year but made just one appearance. The defender was also omitted from United's Champions League squad for the group phase.

The defensive duo were regularly used by Jose Mourinho during his spell in charge as Chris Smalling and Phil Jones were sidelined by injury. Mourinho singled the pair out for praise following a clean sheet against Chelsea.

He said: "Everybody fought really hard. Bailly and Rojo, I think they deserve a special mention because they have played in absolutely every game, non-stop, since the injuries of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones."

A video showcasing their best moments together was trending on Twitter on Tuesday with many United fans claiming a potentially great defensive partnership was scuppered by injuries.

Rojo has also been troubled by injuries with Solskjaer recently confirming he had suffered a new problem.

He said: "Yeah, Marcos has just felt a niggle in his calf again. He's worked really hard to come back, he played a game with the reserves, got a knock there, worked really hard again and then felt something. So hopefully he's back in January, Marcos."
