Manchester United fans say same thing after Bruno Fernandes scores his first goal

Manchester United fans are believe Bruno Fernandes' first goal for the club against Watford will be the first of many this season.

The Portugal international returned to the starting XI to face the Hornets, his first appearance at Old Trafford since joining from Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window.

Fernandes was United's biggest threat throughout the first half and he was instrumental in winning the spot kick.

Anthony Martial slipped a through ball behind the Watford defence following a smart run from Fernandes and the playmaker was wiped out by Ben Foster.

He calmly stepped up to take the spot kick he earned, coolly slotting home following an unusual run up.

Fernandes could have bagged a brace before the half-time whistle but couldn't manage to stab the ball past Foster following an incisive United break.

United fans were delighted to see the 25-year-old open his account for the Reds and expect to see the goals continue to flow throughout the rest of the season.

They are confident it won't be the last time Fernandes is celebrating at Old Trafford.

Here is how they reacted to his goal on Twitter:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to drop both Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard from the match-day squad.

He explained his decision to do so before the game to MUTV:

"Well we picked a squad of 18 that we felt was the right 18 here.

"We have got cover on the bench; wide men, forwards, midfielders, and defenders. That was the decision I made."
