Manchester United fans have backed Edinson Cavani to be a prolific goalscorer for the club this season.
The Reds took some in the football world by surprise when they turned their attentions towards the 33-year-old striker during the final days of the transfer window, but fans still seem optimistic he will be able to perform for the club.
Thousands of supporters responded to the MEN's survey about Cavani's signing, with over 20 per cent saying they were most excited about the number of goals the Uruguayan could score this season.
Yet almost four per cent of fans said they were not excited about anything to do with the striker.
Five per cent of supporters said they were excited about the fact the Reds' famous number seven shirt would be used again.
When asked to rate the signing out of five, 27 per cent of supporters gave it three.
Most fans seem relatively happy with the signing, with 23 per cent giving Cavani four out of five, and a further 21 per cent giving the deal top marks.
Yet 30 per cent of supporters ranked the signing as either a one or a two, with an even 15 per cent split between both options.
Reds fans remain pessimistic for the season, however.
When asked what United will win this season with Cavani and Alex Telles in the side, 38 per cent of fans said that the club will not make top four but will win a trophy.
Twenty-nine per cent backed the club to make the top four and win some silverware, with the same percentage saying there will be a top-four finish but no trophy.
An optimistic four per cent of supporters said United will be Premier League champions thanks to the new signings.
