Manchester United fans react with disbelief at £50million Sean Longstaff transfer rumour

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in adding Newcastle's Sean Longstaff to his squad for the 2019-20 season.

MEN Sport understands United are targeting midfield reinforcements following the departures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.

Fellaini left Old Trafford in February to join Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng, while Herrera was officially announced as a PSG player earlier this week.

Solskjaer believes Lonsgstaff fits the mould as part of the club's new recruitment drive to sign young British players.

MEN Sport understands United had planned to sign Longstaff last month but negotiations with Crystal Palace over Aaron Wan-Bissaka dragged on longer than anticipated and the club prioritised concluding the £50million move.

However, United may have to reconsider their stance on Longstaff if a story run by Sky Sports on Friday is to be believed.

The report claims Newcastle will demand in excess of £50million for the 21-year-old — and United supporters couldn't quite believe their eyes.

Ridiculous.

Well, when you put it like this...

Do me a favour.

Finished.

The final straw.

Where have they plucked £50m from?

Need a lie-down.

Dumb.
