Manchester United fans react to Wayne Rooney's return to England

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has confirmed he will return to England in January, signing a deal to become a player-coach with Championship side Derby County.

The former Everton forward moved to Major League Soccer last summer, leaving the Toffees to join D.C. United on a free transfer.

Rooney, a five-time Premier League winner with United, has scored 11 goals in the MLS this season, but will complete a sensational return to England, joining Derby in a player/coach role.

England's record goal-scorer will link up with the Rams in January following the conclusion of the season in the United States.

United fans took to social media to react to the news of Rooney's return to England, with some believing that the Red Devils should have hijacked the deal and brought the 33-year-old back to Old Trafford.
