Manchester United fans react to starting line-up vs Omonia as Christian Eriksen benched

Erik ten Hag has named his starting line-up for Manchester United's Europa League tussle with Omonia Nicosia at Old Trafford this evening, making a handful of changes.

United, who defeated Omonia 3-2 in Cyprus exactly a week ago, will be going in search of a third successive victory in all competitions, following Sunday's 2-1 triumph at Everton. The Reds recovered from a goal down to scoop all three points, courtesy of first-half goals from Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo.

It means that Ten Hag will be keen to see his side maintain their recent run of good form and move one step closer towards the Europa League knockout stages this evening, in what is their first home game for more than a month. The Dutchman, unsurprisingly, has mixed things up following Sunday's win on Merseyside, making three changes to his side.

Tyrell Malacia, Fred and Ronaldo have come into the side, meaning Luke Shaw, Christian Eriksen and Anthony Martial, who misses out through injury, have dropped out. It is the first time this season that Eriksen has not started.

Meanwhile, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho are among those to have been named on the substitutes' bench. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek are among those who miss out through injury once again.

Having made just three changes to his side, Ten Hag will be hoping to see more of the same as United go in search of a third successive Europa League win. It is the decision to hand Eriksen a breather that has attracted the most attention from United's supporters in the immediate aftermath of the team news being confirmed.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some of United's supporters have had to say in response to Ten Hag's decision to take Eriksen out of the starting line-up.

As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets above, Ten Hag's decision to hand Eriksen a rest has gone down well with the supporters. They have praised the United boss for his decision, highlighting the volume of games he has played so far this season.

United starting line-up: De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Malacia; Casemiro, Fred, Fernandes; Antony, Ronaldo, Rashford.

Substitutes: Dubravka, Heaton, Varane, Shaw, McTominay, Iqbal, Eriksen, Pellistri, Elanga, Garnacho, Sancho.

This evening's contest at Old Trafford gets underway at 8:00pm and you can follow all of the action on our live matchday blog, which you can access by clicking here.
