Manchester United fans react to starting line-up vs Chelsea as Marcus Rashford starts

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has named his starting line-up for Manchester United's Premier League tussle with Chelsea at Old Trafford this evening, being forced to leave several key players out through injury.

United, who drew 1-1 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back in November, will be looking to get back to winning ways after suffering a second consecutive defeat last Saturday, losing 3-1 to Arsenal. Defeat to the Gunners has left their top-four aspirations hanging by a very fine thread, meaning there is no more room for error.

With tonight's clash at Old Trafford being the only Premier League fixture this evening, United will move back to within three points of the top four should they win. However, both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur will have two games in hand on Rangnick's troops, one of which is against each other.

Rangnick, who has only lost one league game at Old Trafford since taking charge in December, has, despite the injury issues, made just one change to the side that was beaten by Arsenal, which is enforced by illness. Jadon Sancho has dropped out of the side and been replaced by Marcus Rashford.

Meanwhile, the likes of Alvaro Fernandez, Alejandro Garnacho and Shola Shoretire are among the substitutes.

Having made just one change, all eyes will be on United and Rangnick to see how they fare, especially against a side of Chelsea's quality. It is Rashford's inclusion in the starting line-up that has attracted the most attention from United's supporters in the immediate aftermath of the team news being confirmed.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some of United's supporters have had to say in response to Rashford's return to the team.

As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets above, several United supporters have expressed their disappointment at seeing Rashford being handed a starting berth. He has struggled for form in recent months and will be aiming to prove his doubters wrong this evening.

United starting line-up: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Telles; Matic, McTominay, Fernandes; Elanga, Ronaldo, Rashford.

United substitutes: Henderson, Heaton, Bailly, Fernandez, Jones, Hannibal, Mata, Garnacho, Shoretire.

This evening's contest at Old Trafford kicks-off at 7:45pm and you can follow all of the action live on our matchday blog, which you can access by clicking here.
