Manchester United fans react to news Angel Gomes is set to leave

Manchester United fans have taken to social media to give their thoughts on the likelihood of forward Angel Gomes leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract.

The teenager’s deal is due to expire tomorrow and Solskjaer suggested the likelihood is the 19-year-old will leave this summer.

"Got no news, nothing," Solskjaer said in response to a question about Gomes' future. "So doesn't look like it. To be honest, I've not heard from them last night or this morning, it seems like they haven't managed to agree so the answer is probably short and yes, then.”

Gomes has been in negotiations with United over a new contract for some time, with the MEN revealing that he rejected the club’s opening offer due to concerns over the amount of playing time he would get at Old Trafford.

Negotiations have continued, but it now seems that the youngster will be leaving the club when his current deal runs out. Chelsea and Barcelona are two of the clubs who have been linked with the 19-year-old.

There was a mixed reaction from United fans on social media.

Gomes has made two Premier League appearances this season, coming on in the final 10 minutes of matches against West Ham and Norwich.

The teenager has made a total of 10 first-team appearances in a United shirt, including starting three Europa League group games this campaign.

He made his first-team debut back in 2017, coming on as a late substitute in the 2-0 Premier League win over Crystal Palace.
