Manchester United fans react to Matty Longstaff winning Premier League Goal of the Month

Manchester United fans can't believe that Matty Longstaff's strike has won the Premier League Goal of the Month award for October.

The Newcastle United midfielder scored the only goal of the game against the Reds at St. James Park, driving a low shot past David de Gea after a Magpies break.

It was a fantastic story for the youngster who was playing alongside his brother Sean - a transfer target for Manchester United - but fans felt the strike paled in comparison to other nominees.

Everton's Gylfi Sigurdsson beat one West Ham defender before lashing the ball into the top corner, similarly to Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz who curled the ball home against Norwich.

United forward Anthony Martial was also nominated for the prize for his deft chip against the Canaries following an excellent United move but it was Longstaff who emerged victorious.

Supporters are in disbelief that the awarded was handed to the youngster, suggesting he won purely because the goal was against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men.

They took to social media to let their feelings be known.
