Manchester United fans have had their wishes answered after it was announced that Anthony Martial has retaken the No.9 shirt following Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian striker left United to join Inter Milan on Thursday, and in doing so freed up the shirt number which used to be worn by fan favourite Martial.
United issued the No.9 shirt to Martial following his arrival from Monaco in the summer of 2015, but despite an impressive debut season he was forced to relinquish the number when Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived.
Lukaku then inherited the number once Ibrahimovic first left the club, with Martial forced to take up the No.11
However, United revealed their squad numbers for upcoming Premier League season on Friday evening and confirmed that Martial has reclaimed his old squad number.
It also confirmed that new signings Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire will wear numbers 21, 29 and 5, respectively, with youngsters Mason Greenwood taking the No.26 and Angel Gomes will have No.28.
But fans are most delighted with Martial's new number and hope that the Frenchman can now unlock the same type of form which he possessed upon his first season at Old Trafford.
