Manchester United fans react angrily to new Dean Henderson rumour

Manchester United fans don't want to see Dean Henderson loaned out again next season following the conclusion of his spell with Sheffield United.

Henderson played a starring role in the Blades' successful promotion bid last year and has proven himself in the Premier League, sitting joint-second in the clean sheets table prior to the postponement of the season.

The 23-year-old was expected to win a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad for EURO 2020 before the tournament was rescheduled for next year.

With David de Gea's form waning in recent months, Henderson has been tipped to compete for the number one jersey at Old Trafford and MEN Sport understand the goalkeeper only wants to return to the club if he will definitely be first choice.

ESPN report United will resist any offers for the goalkeeper in the upcoming transfer window and will look to send him out on loan for another season as they continue to plan for his long-term future at the club.

United fans aren't keen to see him depart again.

At the start of April, United great Peter Schmeichel said Henderson has a long way to go before he challenges De Gea.

He said: "There's no doubt about Henderson's potential, but he's played one season at a club who has had an unbelievable run in the Premier League.

“But Henderson will need to show another season, like he's just come through, and then another one, and another one, in order to convince everyone that he is the right guy.

"There's a really big difference between being the No.1 at Bramall Lane and being the No.1 at Old Trafford, a really big difference. Even just being a player at those two clubs."
