Manchester United fans' ratings so far: David de Gea great but Fred poor

Manchester United fans have rated David de Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo as the club's standout performers this season.

Although there was a sense of belief building around United ahead of the new season after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer completed the signings of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo, United have since endured multiple poor results.

United failed to go into the international break on a high note, too, when squandering a one-goal advantage against Everton at home which meant the points were shared in that game and, to make matters worse, difficult fixtures across October now await.

Ahead of those fixtures, the MEN conducted a survey which asked fans to rate United's squad out of 10 for this season so far.

De Gea and Ronaldo were the two standout performers in the result of that survey, with both players receiving an average of an 8.2/10 rating from fans while Bruno Fernandes [7.3/10], Varane [7.2/10] and Mason Greenwood [7.1/10] then followed.

All five players have seemingly become certain starters under Solskjaer and United fans clearly feel that's the correct decision.

Luke Shaw [6.9/10] and Paul Pogba [6.7/10] just fall short of that top five from the ratings submitted by supporters.

But who are the players in the United squad that fans feel haven't performed well so far this season?

Solskjaer recently stood by his regular selection of Fred, yet the Brazilian had the lowest rating of all the United squad [3.7/10], which might only add to the growing calls from some fans for Donny van de Beek to be given a chance in the double pivot.

Anthony Martial [4.2/10], Eric Bailly [4.2/10] and Juan Mata [4.3/10] were also rated low — despite Martial's goal against Everton - but crucially all three players have hardly played this season, which would explain why they've fared worst in the rating survey.

The MEN revealed last month that Mata is considering his United future amid a lack of playing time this term.
