Manchester United fans praise 'unique' Facundo Pellistri after display vs Osasuna

Facundo Pellistri impressed Manchester United fans with his "unique" dribbling style in Alaves' La Liga game against Osasuna on Saturday.

United signed Pellistri on transfer deadline day in October as a continuation of their commitment to signing the best young prospects. The Uruguayan had featured 37 times in the Uruguay Primera Division for Penarol before United signed him.

Rather than keep Pellistri in Manchester throughout the final months of the season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the coaching staff believed a loan would be the best course of action for his development.

Pellistri signed for Alaves in January and has since made two substitute appearances, the second of which came on Saturday in a 1-0 defeat by Osasuna.

Pellistri was brought on at half-time and played off the right flank, impressing fans who commented on a video compilation of all of his touches that was shared on Reddit.

"Pretty impressed with how confident he seems on the ball. Surely he's in for a start soon," one fan wrote.

Another highlighted his dribbling skill, adding: "The way he dribbles is pretty unique. Seems to just glide with the ball. Pretty satisfying to watch."

And another praised his crossing: "Crosses, shooting, physicality, close control are some of the qualities I see that Facundo has and which will only get better.

"One thing I notice from this and I hope this is something he improves is his weak foot. Facundo seems to prefer the ball to be at/around his right foot than his left. Hopefully, he'll improve that with more training."

Another added that the loan was needed and he needs to bulk up before returning to English football: "Yeah you can certainly see why he was loaned out.

"There's talent there for sure but he's not developed the physicality to play PL football just yet going by recent highlights. Because he's not particularly fast it's definitely important he bulks up a bit.

"Also looks like there's a bit of room for improvement with his first touch too, it's a bit nervy, but that's understandable. Good contact on that volley though."

Pellistri will return to United at the end of the season with the intention of earning a role in the first-team squad.
