Manchester United fans point out James Garner stat after promising full debut vs Partizan Belgrade

Manchester United fans are hopeful that James Garner can be their midfield solution, after reacting to his impressive full debut against Partizan Belgrade last night (Thursday).

Garner started alongside Scott McTominay in central midfield, after deservedly getting a first-team opportunity following some excellent performances for the club's Under-23s.

And many United supporters pointed out that none of the club's teams have conceded a goal while Garner has been on the pitch this season, in seven games. Garner has scored six goals in that time too, all for the Under-23s or Under-21s.

Garner's first half stats against Partizan also stood out, as the 18-year-old retained possession well and got United moving out of defence and into midfield.

He completed 34 passes in Belgrade and had a strong passing accuracy rate of 83 per cent.

And with United's options very light in midfield at the moment, especially with current injuries to Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic - and following the departures of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini in the past year - United fans are optimistic about Garner's emergence.

Along with Brandon Williams, Mason Greenwood and other youngsters like Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong, he's been a bright spark for the Reds.

Here's what fans said about Garner on social media:

Solskjaer is expected to give an injury update on Pogba, Matic and other injury concerns before United's game against Norwich City on Sunday.

But Garner could well be included more often in the first team squad if his performances continue in this vein.
