Manchester United fans plead for striker to return to Old Trafford

Manchester United fans are pleading for striker James Wilson to get a chance at Old Trafford after yet another loan spell.

Wilson, now 23, spent the last season as Scottish club Aberdeen, scoring four goals in 24 appearances at Pittodrie.

Following the conclusion of his loan spell he sent a thank you message to the club on Instagram, writing: "Big thank you to all the players, staff and fans at Aberdeen. Looking forward to my next chapter!"

What that chapter will be is yet to be seen. Wilson has been at United since 2002 and rose through the ranks to play 20 times for the first time and managing to score four goals.

Yet he never managed to fully establish himself in the side and has had loan moves to Championship clubs Brighton, Sheffield United and Derby with out any great success.

Wilson's contract expires at United this summer and it seems unlikely that he will be offered an extension. Yet some fans are still hoping that he is given a chance.

In the replies to his Instagram post several supporters offered their encouragement to the striker. User @yuri_mevan wrote: "I still want you to succeed at Manchester United. I'd hate for that potential to be wasted and I hope you still get the chance at United."

Whereas @woody1491 wrote 'hopefully stays at United' and @sxznk echoed the sentiment by saying 'I hope you come back United.'

United fans aren't the only ones who want to see Wilson in their team, however, as plenty of Aberdeen fans hope to see him return to their club for next season.
