Manchester United fans place cash value on Leeds United's Raphinha in lieu of failed Sancho move

This season Leeds United supporters have been denied the opportunity to witness newest signing Raphinha in the flesh.

It is a real tragedy given how exciting and effervescent the Brazilian winger has been, at home and on the road.

Raphinha has scored four times and assisted on five occasions in just 15 starts and three substitute appearances, averaging a goal or assist every 150 minutes, as per WhoScored.com.

Understandably, this has attracted the lustful gazes of Premier League clubs and less covertly, the attentions of opposition fans.

Liverpool were the first big club to be linked, but Manchester United appear to have entered the ring, if their fans' interest is anything to go by.

Why were Leeds United so different in each half according to Bielsa?

Supporters have debated whether Raphinha would be a good fit at Old Trafford on Twitter, in response to reports from SportItalia that Manchester United are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old.

It is doubtful Leeds would even entertain such interest, especially given Raphinha has only been a Whites player for a matter of months.

Manchester United fans rather optimistically believe that the offer of Daniel James plus cash might sweeten the deal, owing to Leeds' prior interest in the Welshman.

Others have suggested that Raphinha could be a cheaper alternative to Jadon Sancho this coming summer, with Borussia Dortmund seemingly intent on holding out for their desired fee of over £100 million.

Man United supporters feel as though between £40-50 million would be enough to prise Raphinha from Leeds' grasp, although Andrea Radrizzani is one to know better than to sell the team's star player to a bitter rival, even if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were to level such a bid.

Raphinha signed a contract at Elland Road until June 2024 upon joining Leeds United back in October. This means it will take a considerable fee and a club backed with plentiful resources to even begin thinking about luring Raphinha away.

Manchester United recently awarded Mason Greenwood a new contract running until 2025, and have seen Amad Traore join up with the first-team squad following his January move from Atalanta.

Both players feature from the right-wing, meaning it is unlikely Man United will go after another right-sided forward player.
