Manchester United fans pinpoint first-half moment vs West Ham that proved they need new striker

Manchester United fans have urged Ed Woodward to splash the cash on a centre-forward this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was left short on the ground for attackers against West Ham, though Marcus Rashford provided a big boost by returning to the starting XI.

Though Rashford's return to fitness is a good thing, supporters were left frustrated as he missed a great chance to put United ahead in the first half, heading wide from Mason Greenwood's fantastic cross.

It reiterated the need for United to sign a recognised number nine in the summer, with supporters urging the club to prioritise the addition of a new striker when the window opens.

United are continuing to monitor Erling Haaland with the Norwegian striker attracting interest from across Europe.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc admitted over the weekend that his club will "try to keep him (Haaland) as long as possible for sporting reasons" and qualifying for next season's Champions League is an important part of that.

"I have never seen someone like him," Zorc said. "We can search Europe-wide.If he ever left us somewhere, there would only be a handful of clubs, but we'll try to keep him as long as possible for sporting reasons.

"We don't want to play in the Europa League on Thursdays. We want to give our calling card in the Champions League."

The MEN understands a new striker is high up on United's list of summer transfer priorities amid Edinson Cavani's uncertain future and the indifferent form of Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.
